Answering service for Minneapolis contractors and service shops
Bloombilt answers the calls and website chats your shop can't get to in Minneapolis and takes down what the job needs. We build here, and we'll come to you to set it up.
What calls look like in Minneapolis
Most of south and northeast Minneapolis went up before the war, and the housing stock still shows it: bungalows, four-squares, and duplexes with cast iron stacks, galvanized supply lines, boiler heat, and panels that were sized for a very different house. That's repair work, and repair customers call. They call at night and on Saturday, and they call the next shop on Google as soon as they hit a voicemail box.
The other thing about Minneapolis is density. A caller with a burst line has six shops within fifteen minutes of the address, and they will work down the list until a person answers. Here, being reachable is the main difference between you and the shop one neighborhood over.
We cover Northeast, Longfellow, Powderhorn, Nokomis, Uptown, Camden and the North Loop.
Missed calls by trade in Minneapolis
- plumbing shops →
- A cast iron stack in a 1920s Longfellow duplex finally opens up. The tenant calls the landlord, the landlord calls you, and it is already after six.
- HVAC companies →
- A Northeast bungalow still running a boiler loses heat in January, and the homeowner has no idea who serviced it last.
- electrical shops →
- A south Minneapolis four-square on an undersized panel trips every time the space heater and the microwave run together.
- roofing companies →
- Hail crosses the lakes and a whole street of steep-pitch roofs needs eyes on it before the adjusters book out.
- lawn care and landscaping crews →
- A boulevard elm drops a limb across the alley, and three neighbors call about it the same afternoon.
- tire and auto repair shops →
- The snow emergency routes get plowed, the curbs freeze into ruts, and half the city has bent a rim by Thursday.
What it does while you're on a job
- Answers every call and website chat
- Takes the caller's details and puts them in one inbox
- Works around the clock, including nights and weekends
It tells callers it's an automated assistant, asks what's going on, and writes down the name, the number, and what the job needs. The lead is in your inbox, transcribed, before the call even ends, so you call back with the whole story instead of returning a voicemail blind.
Norblom Plumbing has answered the Twin Cities' calls for about a hundred years. Now Bloombilt answers the ones the team can't get to, so a call that comes in while everyone's on a job still lands as a lead instead of a voicemail nobody left.

We set it up in person in Minneapolis
We build in the Twin Cities and we set this up in person when you'd rather do it that way. You won't be dealing with a call center in another time zone or a support queue. If it's easier to sort out over coffee at your shop than over email, that's the version we prefer too.

Common questions
Do you actually work with shops in Minneapolis?
Yes. Bloombilt is based in the Twin Cities and covers the whole metro, Minneapolis included. We set up in person when you'd rather do it that way, which for most Hennepin County shops means we come to you.
Does it know anything about my service area?
It knows the one you give it. During onboarding we tell it which cities and neighborhoods you take work in, so a caller outside your area gets told so instead of turning into a job you'd have to cancel.
How much does it cost?
Every deployment is custom-quoted, because every shop runs differently. We build the front desk around your hours, your services, and your service area, then give you one flat monthly price. There are no per-call fees.
Do I have to change my phone number or provider?
No. It runs on top of the phone system you already have. During onboarding we point your unanswered calls at the AI, so it catches the overflow and the after-hours calls instead of letting them roll to voicemail. Your number, your phones, and your provider stay exactly as they are.
Is this an answering service or a virtual receptionist?
Both words describe the same job, and different shops use different ones. An answering service traditionally takes a message; a virtual receptionist is expected to act like your front desk, which means answering questions and booking the work. Ours does the second: it answers, tells the caller what you do and roughly when you can come, takes the details down, and sends you the transcript so you can confirm the time. Call it whichever you like.
How long until I'm using it?
Most customers are live in two to three weeks from signed agreement.
Will this work with the tools we already use?
Yes. Our products connect to the systems your team already uses: Google Workspace, CRMs, calendars, Slack, email, and other common business tools.
What if I want to cancel?
Cancel anytime with reasonable notice. We'll export your data and hand back anything we run for you, like a website or phone number. The rest stays yours.
Where does our data live?
Your data stays yours. It's encrypted in transit and at rest, isolated from every other customer, and never used to train AI models, ours or the third-party services we use to deliver the product. Subprocessor list available on request. Full details in our privacy policy.
