The best snow removal dispatch software, compared honestly (2026)

Storm dispatch is a different workflow from lawn scheduling, and the killer feature is timestamped proof of service. Six options compared on what matters at 3am.

Snow is not lawn care in winter. It looks similar on a feature list and it is a completely different job.

Lawn scheduling is planned: you know Tuesday’s route in March. Snow dispatch is reactive: the storm arrives at 2am, you decide which sites get hit in what order while it is still snowing, you push that to drivers who are already moving, and the whole thing changes twice before sunrise.

And there is one requirement that does not exist anywhere else in the green industry.

The requirement that outranks everything

Timestamped, geolocated proof of service photos.

Slip-and-fall claims are the existential risk in snow and ice management. Someone falls in a lot you serviced, and eighteen months later you are being asked to prove what you did and when. “We were there around 4” is not a defense. A timestamped photo of the cleared lot, tied to a location and a time, is.

This single requirement should drive your software choice more than price, more than the board, more than anything. If a tool cannot produce a defensible service record, it does not matter how nice the dispatch screen is.

Two things to check specifically:

  1. Does the timestamp come from the device, and can it be edited? A record that a driver can backdate is not much of a record.
  2. What happens with no signal? Parking garages, rural sites, storm interference. If the photo fails to upload and the app discards it, you have no record of the site you actually cleared. Photos must save locally and sync later, always.

Who each one is for

Snow is your business: Yeti. Built for snow and ice specifically, free up to ten sites, then around $95/mo. Storm dispatch, live status, and proof of service are the product rather than a module. If you are a dedicated snow and ice contractor, start here and make everything else prove it is better. We are not going to pretend our general-purpose crew app beats a specialist at its specialty.

Snow is your winter, lawn is your summer: this is the awkward one, and it is most Minnesota companies. Running two systems means two client lists, two logins, and crews learning two apps. Running one system means accepting that the snow side is a compromise. Neither answer is clean.

Our honest read: if snow is under about a third of your revenue, take the compromise and run one year-round system. If it is more than half, run the snow specialist and accept a second tool for lawn.

Big commercial portfolios with complex contracts: Service Autopilot’s snow module or an enterprise tool. Per-event billing, seasonal contracts, and zero-tolerance sites get complicated fast, and the cheap tools do not model them.

You already run Jobber and snow is small: use what you have. Attach photos to jobs, and be disciplined about it. Check what happens to a photo taken with no signal before you rely on it in January.

Where we fit

Dispatch is a year-round crew app that handles snow as one of the things a green-industry company does, rather than a snow-only product.

What is relevant here: proof photos are offline-first by design. The photo and the status save on the phone immediately and sync when the truck drives back into coverage. That was not a feature we added, it was a starting assumption, because weak offline behavior is one of the most commonly cited reasons crews abandon field apps. Every stop gets a status and a timestamped photo, and the record survives a dead zone.

The dispatch board handles reassignment during an event: drag a site to a different truck, reorder the stops, and the crew’s phones get a notification.

Where we are honestly not the best answer: dedicated snow contractors with large commercial portfolios, complex per-event billing, and zero-tolerance contracts. Yeti and the enterprise snow tools model that world properly and we do not. We are built for the crew that mows in July and plows in January.

And straight about the stage: Dispatch is new. For a use case where the software is part of your liability defense, “new” is a real consideration and you should weigh it.

The test to run before a storm, not during one

Take a phone, put it in airplane mode, and go through a full stop: mark the job, take two photos, add a note, complete it. Then turn the signal back on and watch what arrives on the office side.

If the photos are there with the right timestamps, the tool works. If anything is missing, you found out in October instead of in court.
